Here you will find scores and musical parts for more than a hundred of the most exquisite theatrical dances of the Baroque era. They are the result of rigorous historical research into extant seventeenth- and eighteenth-century operas, collections, and songbooks.
Each volume comprises the music (full score and individual parts) for a Baroque stage dance, transcribed from the original records (print or manuscript) into modern musical notation using G and F clefs. The inner voices are notated in both the octave treble clef and the C (alto/tenor) clef.
The score and parts are meticulously arranged so that their systems correspond directly to the pages of the choreography. These are inscribed with figures matching the pages of the Feuillet notation (choreography pages). Repeats are frequently written out in full. Communication between dancers and musicians is thereby rendered considerably easier.
In accordance with historically informed performance practice, many staves commence upon the upbeat to align with the individual choreographic plates (as in the Sarabande, Gigue, Chaconne, Gavotte, and other dance forms). Upon request, continuously notated full scores may also be ordered by email.
